On Reddit and other social media a post claiming to be from a disgruntled engineer at a food delivery company circulated widely. It alleged the company funneled lower value jobs to drivers with a higher “desperation score” among other forms of exploitation. The CEOs of both Uber Eats and DoorDash publicly denied the accusations.
Then some clever sleuthing by tech journalists revealed the whole thing was an elaborate AI-generated scam.
