MARNI STEINBERG, Executive Director
Marni Steinberg has over 30 years of experience working in advertising, marketing and event planning for several recognizable organizations and nonprofits, including the Denver Broncos, Make-A-Wish Foundation, Free Arts for Abused Children of Arizona, The Arizona Leadership Foundation and RIESTER Advertising and Marketing.
A native Arizonan, Marni attended Chaparral High School before graduating from the University of Arizona with a bachelor’s degree in media arts and a minor in journalism and communications. After receiving her undergraduate degree, she began her career in New York City and then went to Denver before returning to Scottsdale, where she lives with her husband and daughter. Marni is involved in her community, where she volunteers at her daughter’s school as the parent representative for the Site Council. She has previously been a UPC representative as well as a Girl Scout Leader. She also does volunteer work for various organizations around the valley with her daughter’s community service group.
MARK NOTHAFT
Communications strategist Mark Nothaft leverages deep market knowledge with a keen understanding and synthesis of issues to deliver transformative outcomes and shifts in perception for clients. He has developed award-winning communications programs for public and private entities and nonprofits of all sizes including Arizona Public Service, Salt River Project, the Arizona Chamber of Commerce, the Arizona Food Marketing Alliance, the Arizona Golf Association, the City of Glendale (Ariz.), among many others. Mark is passionate about journalism and the First Amendment, having written for daily newspapers and websites like the East Valley Tribune (Mesa, Ariz.), Phoenix Magazine and The Arizona Republic as its ‘Only in Arizona’ columnist. He is also the former editor of the Republic's Who's Who in Business magazine, leading a research and content team celebrating women executives in Arizona.
ALEX PHILLPS-BREESE
Alex Phillips-Breese is a 2025-26 J. Blackbourn Social Media Fellow, responsible for identifying compelling and relevant stories, designing social media graphics, and shaping overall social media strategy. She is a senior at Michigan State University, pursuing a degree in Marketing at the Broad College of Business with minors in Graphic Design and German. Alex brings experience as both a Content Creation Specialist and a Content Editing Specialist with the Michigan State Digital Marketing Organization. Passionate about education and combating misinformation—particularly amid the rapid rise of AI—she is proud to serve in a role that reflects her values.
